The physical and emotional shifting that occurs with the birth of a first child are the foundations of my photographs.

Influenced by the compositional structure of Josef Sudek, the palettes of Irving Penn and the intrusive and detailed viewpoint of Karl Blossfeldt, my current portfolios represent my obsession with the internal and external changes of motherhood. In the blink of an eye, I went from believing in the certainty of my role, thoughts and physique to not recognizing myself in the mirror. I grapple daily with how I can be all of the ‘selfs’ that I see and want, and how the outside world perceives me now. I wonder how I can feel like myself when my physical body is no longer the same.

My work explores the ways in which a moment of time can change a common perception or understanding. My work guides the viewer to take a moment and focus on one subject or idea and to question how change affects the external persona.

I am transformed and attempting to find balance.
